Christopher Nolan Retrospective at TIFF Precedes “The Odyssey” Premiere

TIFF’s summer marquee series “Christopher Nolan: Grand Designs” runs July 8 – August 20, 2026 at the Lightbox, screening all twelve of Nolan’s features—from “Following” (1998) to “Oppenheimer” (2023)—exclusively on 35 mm and 70 mm prints. The series leads into the North-American theatrical debut of his new epic “The Odyssey” on July 17.

Nolan first appeared at TIFF in 1998 with “Following” in the Discovery section and returned in September 2017 for an IMAX 70 mm screening of “Dunkirk.” The 2026 program revisits his entire oeuvre and adds a live recording of The Ringer’s *The Big Picture* podcast with hosts Sean Fennessey and Amanda Dobbins, a “Barbie” quote-along before “Oppenheimer,” and a “Silver Screenings” presentation of Philip Kaufman’s *The Right Stuff* with a space-exploration talk.
