Carney Picks GlobalEye
- Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the Royal Canadian Air Force will purchase Saab GlobalEye aircraft.
- The GlobalEye, derived from a Canadian executive jet, was selected over two United States (U.S.) competitors, including Boeing.
- Carney said the purchase fulfills his pledge to stop sending 70 cents of every defence dollar to the United States.
- Industry Minister Mélanie Joly called for domestic production, noting Saab could build Gripen fighters in Canada for export.
