Malaysia Enforces Age-Verification
- On 1 June 2026 Malaysia began enforcing age-verification for social-media accounts, prohibiting users under 16.
- The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) enforces the Child Protection and Risk Mitigation Codes under the Online Safety Act 2025.
- Users must verify age with a government-issued ID such as MyKad, passport or MyDigital ID.
- Non-compliant platforms face fines up to RM10 million and must implement parental-control tools, privacy defaults and algorithm changes to block harmful content.
