Google Detects Scams
- Google is rolling out a scam-call detection feature for Android 12 and newer phones.
- The Phone app flags spoofed numbers, warns “Someone may be pretending to call from your contact’s number,” and adds an end-call button.
- The feature is enabled by default on Pixel devices and many Motorola and Samsung phones that have the Phone, Contacts, and Google Messages apps.
- The FTC reported almost $3 billion in impersonation-fraud losses in 2024.
