‘Mi Familia: Sen Dog and the American Dream’ Documentary Chronicles Cypress Hill Co-Founder’s Journey

Production of “Mi Familia: Sen Dog and the American Dream” is underway. The film follows Senen “Sen Dog” Reyes, co-founder of Cypress Hill, from his Cuban origins to hip-hop fame. The logline calls it an “untold American Dream story” spanning Cuba, South Central L.A., and the rise of Cypress Hill. Participants include B-Real, Slash, Chuck D, DMC, George Clinton, Will.i.am, Emilio Estefan, Pitbull and DJ Matt Pinfield. Reyes co-writes and produces with Christina Banker for Freedom Village Films; Christian Jean directs and co-writes; Sam Okun is executive producer.

Reyes’ family left Cuba during the Communist Revolution and settled in South Los Angeles. In the 1980s, the neighborhood was “overrun by gang violence,” shaping his teenage years.
