Education Dept Overhauls
- The U.S. Department of Education will require loans after July 1, 2026 to be repaid under Repayment Assistance Plan or Tiered Standard Plan.
- Seven million SAVE borrowers must decide by July 1 or be placed in Repayment Assistance Plan (RAP) with 30 years before forgiveness, or the Tiered Standard Plan (10- to 25-year term).
- The One Big Beautiful Bill Act, July 1, caps graduate borrowing at $20,500 ($100,000) and professional borrowing at $50,000 ($200,000).
