United States Sanctions
- The United States announced sanctions on 2 June 2026 against Gustave Kubwayo, FDLR commander, and John Imani Nzenze, M23 intelligence chief.
- The State Department said the FDLR carried out ethnic violence, used child soldiers, committed sexual abuse and attacks, while the M23 committed human-rights abuses, killed civilians and attacked villages.
- The Trump administration said it remains committed to the Washington Accords, Doha Framework and the Congo-Rwanda agreement signed last December.
