China Navy Unveils Submarine
- The People’s Liberation Army Navy placed a large “sailless” submarine at Jiangnan (JN) Shipyard in Shanghai, visible May 31–June 1 2026.
- The 120-m (394-ft) vessel, 10-11 m (33-36 ft) wide, features an X-form rudder and minimal sail, a design first seen on a Chinese sub in 2024.
- Analysts expect nuclear power but allow for a hybrid Type 041 “Zhou” system, noting that the sub’s appearance on the same day as a Bohudao Type 095 launch caused confusion.
