China Delays Refineries
- China delayed 500,000 bpd of refining capacity at Huajin Aramco Petrochemical Co. and PetroChina’s Dalian unit.
- Huajin Aramco pushed the 300,000-bpd Panjin refinery start to September or early October.
- PetroChina indefinitely postponed the 200,000-bpd Dalian unit restart that had targeted mid-year.
- Chinese crude imports fell 44% to 6.36 million bpd in May, keeping throughput near 13.3 million bpd (?69% capacity) and prompting analysts to say the delays could cap near-term demand and temper global prices.
