In November 2013 the P5+1 and Iran signed the Geneva interim accord, freezing key nuclear activities for limited sanctions relief. The deal paved the way for the July 14 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which capped enrichment at 3.67%, reduced centrifuges to about 6,100 and released $150 billion of frozen assets. Trump’s 2024 threat to seize Iranian uranium would undo those limits and jeopardize the JCPOA’s inspection regime.
