Zapatero Probe
- Spain’s Court opened a probe into former Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero after jewellery worth €1,323,915 was found in his safe.
- Judge José Luis Calama said the items were seized on May 19, 2026 and that no tax paperwork exists.
- Experts valued the haul at €1.3 million ($1.5 million), comprising watches, necklaces, bracelets and rings.
- Zapatero, also linked to a €53 million Plus Ultra airline bailout case, will testify on June 17-18 and denies wrongdoing.
