Prime Video Confirms Second Season of Michael Hirst’s Viking Saga “Bloodaxe”

Prime Video, via Amazon MGM Studios, officially ordered a second season of Michael Hirst’s series “Bloodaxe.” The creators announced that principal photography will begin in Ireland within weeks, with the first season slated for an early-2027 release on the streaming platform.

The drama follows 10th-century Viking warrior Erik Bloodaxe (Xavier Molyneux) and his wife Gunnhild, Mother of Kings (Jessica Madsen) as they contest Norway’s throne amid shifting loyalties and religious change. Hirst, who previously created *The Tudors* and *Vikings*, describes the show as a new Norse saga that blends historical conflict with magical realism.
