Texas Lawmakers Draft
- The Texas Legislature adopted a 115-page report on the Camp Mystic flood that killed 25 campers, two counselors and the owner.
- Investigators found the camp lacked emergency plans, ignored a July 4 flash-flood warning, confiscated counselors’ cellphones, gave no radios, and the owner, his son and a guard evacuated, leaving 39 adults uninstructed.
- Lawmakers will use the report to draft 2027 Texas camp-safety laws that improve counselors’ ability to contact owners.
