Støre Bans AI
- Norway, led by Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, will ban generative AI for pupils in grades 1-7 (ages 6-13) from late August.
- Students aged 14-16 may use AI only under supervision after teachers finish training; ages 17-19 face no ban and will get AI-literacy lessons.
- Education Minister Kari Nessa Nordtun said the ban aims to stop falling test scores and protect literacy and numeracy, tasking the Directorate for Education with drafting guidelines and teacher-training.
