Jacob Misiorowski Sets Pitch-Velocity Record in Brewers-Braves Game

On Friday night at Truist Park, the Milwaukee Brewers lost 3-2 to the Atlanta Braves. Starting pitcher Jacob Misiorowski, the 24-year-old 6-foot-7 right-hander, threw six innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out seven. His fastball reached 104.2 mph and he recorded a Statcast-era record 47 pitches at 101 mph or higher, the most since tracking began in 2008.

Misiorowski averaged 100.1 mph on his fastball, the highest ever for a starter, and threw 54 pitches at 100 mph or more, including 13 at 103 mph or higher in a June 12 game. He posted a 1.45 ERA after the loss, up from 1.34, with an 8-3 record. The six-inning outing featured seven strikeouts and five hits.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy praised Misiorowski’s dominance but reminded fans that even elite pitchers surrender runs, comparing his experience to past greats. Misiorowski said the Braves made good swings and that every at-bat was aggressive, but he felt fine. Braves manager Walt Weiss called Misiorowski’s combination of extension and velocity a “big-time” challenge that forces hitters to be aggressive.
