- India has banned sugar exports until 30 September to protect domestic supply.
- The Indian Sugar Mills Association delayed its 2024-25 production forecast to end-August because rainfall showed a 64 % deficit, signaling a weak monsoon.
- Director Deepak Ballani said the season will end with 42–43 lakh tonnes inventory, flat consumption and roughly 8 lakh tonnes of exports.
