UN Council Accountability
- On 23 June 2026 the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 2823, co-authored by Pakistan and Denmark and backed by 150 members, to improve peacekeeper accountability.
- The resolution orders the Secretary-General to record attack facts, aid investigations, appoint a focal point and report within 120 days.
- UN data show 1,095 peacekeepers have been killed since 1948, including 359 since 2013.
- Denmark’s Ambassador Christina Markus Lassen said the vote signals that crimes will not go unpunished.
