History

Historical Context

After the 1989 revolutions, the OECD launched the Partners in Transition programme (1991) to help Central European states shift to market economies. The Czech Republic joined the OECD in 1995, later integrating into NATO (1999) and the EU (2004). In 2024 Ukraine submitted a revised OECD application, echoing the Czech path as the bloc now counts 38 members.
