6/24/2026, 12:12:36 PM

Flying Taxi Event Overview

From 10:00 a.m. on 23 June 2026 to 8:00 p.m. on 29 June 2026, Niantic’s Pokémon GO runs the “Flying Taxi” event, a six-day promotion that highlights Flying-type Pokémon. The event introduces the Gen 9 Parrot Pokémon Squawkabilly (also called Krawalloro) and expands the roster of Shadow Pokémon available through Team Rocket encounters. In addition to wild spawns, the event features themed Field Research tasks, a GO Pass with rewards, and a mid-event “Flying Taxi: Taken Over” phase that intensifies Team Rocket activity.

Regional Variants of Squawkabilly

The two hemisphere-exclusive forms cannot be obtained locally; players must either travel to the opposite hemisphere or trade with another trainer to complete the collection.

New Shadow Pokémon and Team Rocket Takeover

During the “Taken Over” phase (25 June 10:00 a.m. – 29 June 8:00 p.m. local time), Team Rocket invades more frequently, with increased balloon spawns, PokéStop takeovers, and special research rewards (Fast TMs, Charged TMs, Mysterious Components). Giovanni’s lineup changes, and a Super Rocket Radar is required to battle him—available at Rank 30 on the free GO Pass track or at Rank 1 and 30 on the Deluxe track. Defeating Giovanni yields the exclusive Shadow Reshiram. The event also adds the following Shadow Pokémon:

These Shadow forms feature broader IV variance and a Charged TM that replaces the Frustration attack.

Official Statements from Niantic

Niantic announced that the Flying Taxi event “focuses on bird Pokémon” and that Squawkabilly’s four colour variants are “regionally exclusive” to encourage global interaction. The company also confirmed that the GO Pass will grant “Super Rocket Radar, mysterious parts, and Crypto Shards” as part of the event rewards. All statements were released through the official Pokémon GO news portal and the event’s in-game banner.

Obtaining All Squawkabilly Forms

Players can catch Squawkabilly in the wild or complete Field Research tasks that require catching 5, 10, or 15 Flying-type Pokémon. Because the Green and Blue forms are hemisphere-locked, the most reliable method to fill gaps is trading with a trainer located in the opposite hemisphere, either locally or via remote trade. Niantic notes that post-event spawn rates for Squawkabilly are currently unknown, making event-time collection advisable.

Upcoming Related Events

The Flying Taxi event runs concurrently with the “Forever Forward” season and precedes the global Go Fest 2026, which will feature additional limited-time Pokémon and competitive activities. Trainers are encouraged to finish the Flying Taxi GO Pass before the deadline on 1 July 2026 7:59 p.m. local time to claim all pending rewards.
