Lane Calls Hike
- ECB Executive Board member Philip Lane said a 25-basis-point rate increase in June was appropriate.
- He reported headline inflation at 3.2 percent in May, energy inflation at 10.8 percent year-on-year, core inflation at 2.6 percent, and unemployment at 6.3 percent in April, noting labor demand cooled.
- Brent crude fell 3.3 percent to about $77 a barrel, the biggest drop in almost a week.
