Fed Confirms Pass
- The Federal Reserve announced all 32 banks passed its stress test, showing they can absorb $708 billion in loan losses in a recession.
- Assuming 10 percent unemployment, a 39 percent commercial-real-estate drop and a 30 percent housing-price fall, banks’ capital fell only 1.6 percentage points, staying above the tier 1 minimum.
- The Fed will keep stress-test capital buffers unchanged through 2027 while revising the methodology, noting that Vice Chair Michelle Bowman said the results show banking-system resilience.
