JMA Upgrades Quake
- The Japan Meteorological Agency upgraded the June 25, 2026 offshore Iwate quake to magnitude 7.2.
- The U.S. Geological Survey recorded the same quake at magnitude 6.9.
- The quake struck about 50 km deep and was felt mildly in Tokyo.
- The Fire and Disaster Management Agency later confirmed eight injuries in Aomori and Iwate.
