Absolute Batman Animated Series Announced at Annecy

DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation announced at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival that an all-new CG-animated series based on the best-selling “Absolute Batman” comic is in early development. Writer Scott Snyder will serve as executive producer and showrunner, and artist Nick Dragotta will produce. No network or release window has been disclosed.

Launched in October 2024, “Absolute Batman” is the flagship of the Absolute Universe, a line that strips classic DC heroes of wealth and powers. The series reimagines Bruce Wayne as a blue-collar civil-engineer-by-day who becomes a hulking vigilante-by-night, and its horror-infused villains have driven it to become one of DC’s top-selling titles of the decade.

The comic has sold over 6 million copies worldwide, its first issue reached an 11th printing, and all Absolute titles placed in the top 10 best-selling comics of 2025, helping DC briefly overtake Marvel in market share.
