Directors Guild of America Ratifies Four-Year Contract with Studios

The Directors Guild of America (DGA) voted overwhelmingly to ratify a four-year contract with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). The deal caps non-director actors at two TV episodes per season, gives directors control over AI-generated footage, adds a “Pilot Directed By” credit, and strengthens job protection for career TV directors.

The pact comes as film and TV production has sharply declined, raising director-job concerns. Negotiators closed the talks before any contract expired, avoiding a strike threat that hovered over the 2026 bargaining cycle. The DGA deal was sealed alongside agreements with the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA.
