Primal Scream Announces Expanded “Bunker Trilogy” Reissues

6/27/2026, 1:26:36 PM

Reissue Schedule and Content

The Bunker Trilogy—*Vanishing Point* (1997), *XTRMNTR* (2000) and *Evil Heat* (2002)—will be reissued in three waves in 2024. *Vanishing Point* arrives on 7 August, *XTRMNTR* on 4 September and *Evil Heat* on 30 October. Each edition will be issued on coloured double-LP vinyl, CD and digital formats, with black vinyl as a backup. The releases feature mastered audio, new mixes, bonus B-sides and, for *XTRMNTR*, two previously unreleased tracks.

Background

The three albums were recorded at the band’s north-London studio, The Bunker, as a deliberate break from the Britpop-dominated UK scene of the 1990s. Frontman Bobby Gillespie said the work was intended as “uncompromising aggressive experimental pop and rock” that explored psychic dislocation, addiction, alienation and a critique of the era’s self-indulgent youth culture.

Production Details

The reissues were overseen by Gillespie and guitarist Andrew Innes. Mastering was performed by Matt Colton at Metropolis Studios. Sony Music will handle worldwide distribution, ensuring the newly mastered editions reach both physical and streaming audiences.

Track Listing and Pressings

Each double-LP contains the original album sequence plus a bonus side of rarities. *Vanishing Point* includes tracks such as “Burning Wheel,” “Star,” “Stuka” and bonus cuts “96 Tears,” “Jesus,” and “Rebel Dub.” The coloured vinyl pressings are limited; black vinyl copies will follow after sell-out.

Band Statements

Gillespie said the reissues restore the albums to a “newly mastered” state while preserving their original intent, and that the timing aligns with the band’s preparation for a 2026 UK anniversary tour of *XTRMNTR*. He called the collection a historical document and a fresh listening experience for long-time fans.

  • “ All three albums have been newly mastered by Matt Colon at Metropolis Studios (under the supervision of Bobby Gillespie and Andrew Innes) and are available on limited edition coloured 2LP vinyl and on CD.” — Primal Scream press release

The band will support the reissues with a UK anniversary tour for *XTRMNTR* in 2026, performing the album in full and integrating the mastered material into the setlist.
