US Launch and Malaysian Release

In July 2026 Sony Electronics began shipping the Reon Pocket Pro Plus in the United States and introduced the sixth-generation Reon Pocket 6 in Malaysia. Both are wearable thermoelectric units designed for neck wear.

Technology & Design

Both models use a Peltier element that creates a hot side and a cold side when powered. The Pro Plus plate can be set from 41 °F to 104 °F via the app or device; its 3,000 mAh battery lasts up to 15 hours in smart cooling and recharges in 3 h 20 min. The Pocket 6 adds a Compact DUAL Thermo Module with two alternating cooling elements, delivering up to 2 °C more cooling than the previous model after ten minutes in a 35 °C environment. The Pro Plus weighs 8.7 oz, runs silently, and has side buttons for temperature changes without a phone. The Pocket 6’s neckband is wider, more flexible, and features an extendable vent.

Official Statements

Sony says the Pocket 6’s Compact DUAL Thermo Module sustains cooling by alternating two independent elements, and that the redesigned neckband and adjustable vent improve airflow for collared and collarless shirts. For the Pro Plus, Sony highlights silent operation, smart-mode temperature regulation with built-in temperature and humidity sensors, and a lightweight 8.7-ounce form factor.

Criticism

CNET reviewer Anna Gragert says the Pro Plus’s $260 price exceeds that of comparable handheld fans and that the plastic neckband could use a softer covering. She also notes the need to readjust the device during active upper-back movement, limiting its use for vigorous exercise.

Verbatim Quotes

  • “Anna Gragert/CNET I like Sony’s Reon Pocket Pro Plus, as it opens the possibilities for how quiet, low-profile and adaptable heating and cooling technology can be.” — Anna Gragert, CNET reviewer
  • “I just wish it were more affordable and didn’t require as much adjustment during upper-back movement.” — Anna Gragert, CNET reviewer
  • “During my testing, I only heard a slight noise when the device turned on, but that was it.” — Anna Gragert, CNET reviewer
  • “Anna Gragert/CNET I found the device fairly comfortable and lightweight, but I wish that the plastic neckband were covered in a softer material.” — Anna Gragert, CNET reviewer

Impact

The launches illustrate how manufacturers are targeting the growing personal-cooling market driven by extreme temperatures. Sony’s emphasis on silent, wearable technology offers an alternative to bulkier handheld fans, potentially reshaping consumer expectations for discreet climate control.

What's Next

The U.S. Pro Plus will ship July 27-28, 2026, with a one-year warranty. The Pocket 6 is already in stores at LaLaport Bukit Bintang City Centre, IOI City Mall, The Curve, and online. Sony’s refinements suggest future models will aim for better comfort, longer battery life and broader price points.
