Historical Context

In June 1976 a car bomb killed Arizona Republic reporter Don Bolles, prompting the newly formed IRE to launch the Arizona Project, where more than 40 journalists from 23 newsrooms, led by Robert W. Greene, completed his organized-crime investigations. The model inspired Laurent Richard’s 2017 Forbidden Stories network, which now backs Malta’s 2024 trial of Yorgen Fenech for the Caruana Galizia murder.
