Russia Halts Rails
  • Russia suspended operations at seven railway border crossings with Finland, Estonia and Latvia effective 1 July 2026.
  • A decree dated 30 June 2026 ordered the Foreign Ministry to inform Helsinki, Tallinn and Riga.
  • The closed crossings are St. Peterburg-Finlyandsky, Vyborg, Vyartsilya, Ljuttja, Svetogorsk (Finland), Pechory-Pskovskiye (Estonia) and Pytalovo (Latvia).
  • Finland says it has not received Moscow’s notice, keeps road crossings closed and permits rail only via Vainikkala, cutting one of the remaining land-transport links with Russia.
