Jorja Smith Announces Third Album “What Are The Odds”

British singer-songwriter Jorja Smith announced that her third studio album, “What Are The Odds,” will be released on August 21 through the label FAMM. The 12-track record is promoted by a music video for the Wizkid-featured single “Alive,” set in Paris. Smith will co-headline London’s All Points East festival with Tems on the release day.

Earlier in 2023 Smith and Wizkid released “Little Things,” and she marked the ten-year anniversary of her breakout hit “Blue Lights.” She also contributed a song to the Prime Video series “Bait” and appeared on Saturday Night Live UK. Her 2023 album “Falling or Flying” was co-produced by P2J, a partnership that continues on the new record.

Production is led by P2J and J Money. Guest spots are limited to Wizkid on “Alive” and grime rapper Devlin on “This City.” Tems joins Smith on the All Points East bill.

The album comprises twelve tracks, including the May single “What’s Done Is Done” and the July 2 single “Alive” (feat. Wizkid). The tracklist also lists titles such as “For Life,” “Pretend,” and “Young Heart.”

Smith told Billboard the album formed “really naturally” without a preset plan, allowing her to make music that “felt right in the moment.” She said working with P2J encouraged experimentation across U.K. garage, grime and house, producing an “uplifting” sound despite “sad” lyrical themes. She described the Wizkid collaboration as “really easy,” noting they recorded together in London to capture the excitement of a new relationship.
