Neemias Queta Secures Four-Year Extension with the Boston Celtics

The Celtics have signed center Neemias Queta to a fully guaranteed four-year extension worth $56 million. The deal follows the team’s exercise of Queta’s $2.67 million player option for 2026-27 and will run through the 2030-31 season. ESPN’s Shams Charania noted the contract preserves cap flexibility for signing veteran center Mitchell Robinson.

Queta was the 39th overall pick in the 2021 draft by the Sacramento Kings. The Kings waived him in September 2023, after which he signed a two-way deal with Boston. He earned a regular contract in 2023-24 and became the Celtics’ starting center in 2025-26 after Porzingis, Horford and Kornet departed.

In 2025-26 Queta posted career highs of 10.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 blocks while shooting 65.3 % and starting 75 of 76 games. He logged over 25 minutes per contest, finished fourth in Most Improved Player voting and ranked 12th in blocked shots.
