FAO Reports Decline
- FAO reported that Brazil's ethanol prices and real depreciation pushed sugar prices down 5.7% in June.
- June 2026 FAO food price index was 130.3 points, with rice up 3.2%, meat up 0.5% to a record, dairy down 1.5%, and cereal output at 2.983 billion tonnes, wheat 806.5 million tonnes, a 4.3% decline.
- FAO’s warning system says 41 countries, including 31 in Africa, need food assistance because of conflict, insecurity and El Niño weather.
