Chiefs' Cornerbacks

Kansas City will decide three starting cornerback spots at its 2026 training camp. The six contenders are No. 6 overall pick Mansoor Delane, second-year Nohl Williams, L'Jarius Sneed, Kristian Fulton, third-year Chris Roland-Wallace and fourth-round rookie Jadon Canady.

Kansas City traded two-time All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams for four picks, including the No. 29 slot. The Rams also signed starter Jaylen Watson, creating two outside-corner vacancies. The Chiefs moved up three spots to draft LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane at No. 6 overall and signed L'Jarius Sneed to a one-year deal after his tenure with the Tennessee Titans.

The six contenders have varied résumés. LSU All-American Delane allowed no touchdowns in his final season. Williams, who started the last four games of 2024, logged 37 tackles, one sack and seven pass breakups. Sneed returns with ten interceptions and two Super Bowl rings, though injuries limited him to 12 games. Fulton recorded 37 tackles, one sack and seven pass breakups despite a knee issue. Roland-Wallace added an interception before a back injury ended his season. Canady, a rookie from Oregon, led the FBS with 2.4 yards per attempt allowed and contributed two interceptions and eight pass breakups.

Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo said camp will set the cornerback depth chart, using Chiefs’ receivers—Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Tyquan Thornton as targets. He praised Delane’s tape, noting the rookie made an immediate impression, and expects him to be fully available after a shoulder injury kept him out of minicamp. Spagnuolo added that Sneed, who missed most of minicamp, will be ready and could be used in various positions.

Injuries and updates add uncertainty. Delane missed the minicamp with a shoulder issue and has no recovery timeline. Sneed only joined the final practice and missed 11-on-11 drills; his Instagram video shows activity but the team has not confirmed his status. Fulton remains hampered by a knee injury, and Roland-Wallace’s back injury ended his 2024 season. The depth chart will not be set until after the first week of camp.

The Chiefs aim to finalize the cornerback depth chart before the season opener against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 14. Early camp performances, especially coverage drills against the team’s top receivers, will likely decide the three starters and shape the secondary for the 2026 season.
