On July 28 1991 Dennis Martínez of the Montreal Expos threw baseball’s 13th perfect game, retiring all 27 Dodgers batters at Dodger Stadium. The Nicaraguan became the first pitcher born outside the United States—and the first Latin-born player—to achieve the feat, giving the Dodgers the rare distinction of losing consecutive perfect games (1988 and 1991).
