Tommy V Films, the company founded by producer Tommy Vlahopoulos, has secured the life-rights to Michael Blutrich’s memoir *Scores: How I Opened the Hottest Strip Club in New York City, Was Extorted out of Millions by the Gambino Family, and Became One of the Most Successful Mafia Informants In FBI History*. The studio plans to shoot a feature film later this year in New York and New Jersey that will dramatize the club’s most turbulent years, 1991-1998.
Scores Club History
Scores opened in the early 1990s and quickly became a magnet for high-profile patrons, including Howard Stern, Madonna, Russell Crowe, Michael Jordan, Donald Trump, Bill Gates, Christina Aguilera, Jason Giambi and Demi Moore. At its height the brand operated two Manhattan locations and licensed its name to strip clubs in five additional cities. The venue, however, was repeatedly entangled in legal trouble—ties to organized-crime extortion, tax evasion and club-sanctioned prostitution. By 1996, after Blutrich was implicated in an unrelated $400 million fraud case in Florida, he began cooperating secretly with federal authorities as an informant against the Gambino crime family.
Production Team
The film will be produced by Vlahopoulos alongside John Bortolis, Jimmy Black and Theodore Otto, with Christopher J. Scott (known for *Ed*) serving as lead producer. The project draws on the 2015 *60 Minutes* Anderson Cooper profile “An Unlikely Informant,” which chronicled Blutrich’s transformation from club co-founder to undercover FBI informant.
