Arkansas vs. Michigan State Thanksgiving Day Showdown

Arkansas and Michigan State will meet on Thanksgiving Day at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena. The contest begins at 4:30 p.m. ET and will be televised nationally by CBS, following the Lions-Bears NFL game. This marks the third consecutive year CBS has scheduled a marquee college-basketball matchup on the holiday.

A 2024 showdown between Arkansas and Illinois attracted 5.1 million viewers, underscoring the network’s success in pairing college basketball with the NFL’s holiday slate.

Both programs enter the 2026-27 season ranked in the preseason top 15—Michigan State at No. 5 and Arkansas at No. 11 in Gary Parrish’s latest Top 25. The Spartans return All-American point guard Jeremy Fears Jr., forward Coen Carr, and sophomore Cam Ward, and they will add a top-30 recruiting class that includes four-star prospects Julius Avent, Jasiah Jervis, Carlos Medlock Jr., and Ethan Taylor. Arkansas brings back starter Billy Richmond, welcomes transfers Jeremiah Wilkinson (Georgia) and Cooper Bowser (Furman), and fields the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class with top-30 prospects Jordan Smith Jr., JJ Andrews, Abdou Toure, and Miika Muurinen.
