Early Wednesday morning, two separate shootings in Pierce County were linked by investigators as attacks on related family members. At approximately 2:40 a.m., deputies responded to the 12500 block of Woodland Avenue East in Puyallup after a 35-year-old man was found dead inside a home with multiple fatal injuries. About 30 minutes later, Tacoma police arrived at the 6900 block of East D Street, where an adult male with several gunshot wounds was discovered and later pronounced dead. Both incidents are being treated as homicides.
Manhunt and Fatal Police Shooting in Seaside, Oregon
Authorities identified 24-year-old Hayes McCloud as a person of interest in the two killings. Classified as armed and dangerous, McCloud fled in a silver 1996 Toyota 4Runner (Washington plate CWW5132). A multi-jurisdictional manhunt concluded when Seaside, Oregon police located him Wednesday night. A “major incident” ensued, ending with McCloud being fatally shot by officers; no officers were injured.
