Bendita Film Sales Secures International Rights to Chilean Fantasy Feature “Donkey Princess” Ahead of Locarno Premiere

Bendita Film Sales, a Tenerife-based sales company, has acquired the international sales rights to “Donkey Princess,” the third feature from Chilean directing duo Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña. The film will debut in the main International Competition at the Locarno Film Festival, marking the pair’s return to a major European showcase after “The Hyperboreans” screened in Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight.

“Donkey Princess” is produced by León & Cociña Films and Globo Rojo Films in Chile, with co-production partners Metonymie (France), Viking Film (Netherlands), Montelona Films (Uruguay) and Autentika Films (Germany). Set in a fairy-tale kingdom where love is outlawed, the narrative follows Princess Diana’s quest across shifting cinematic genres—from medieval fantasy to Hitchcock-style interiors, retro sci-fi, and real-world locations—while employing a magical bracelet to traverse parallel worlds. The score is composed by Jean-Benoît Dunckel, one half of the French electronic duo AIR, whose film work includes Sofia Coppola’s “The Virgin Suicides.”
