Series Premise and Season 1 Cliffhanger
Set in the year 2120, Earth is governed by five megacorporations—Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. The first season follows the crash of the deep-space research vessel USCSS Maginot and the emergence of “hybrids,” humanoid robots infused with human consciousness. Protagonist Wendy (Sydney Chandler) leads a ragtag team of child hybrids as they confront alien lifeforms. The finale ends with Wendy’s triumphant declaration “Now we rule,” just as Weyland-Yutani forces begin to land, shifting the balance of power.
Official Statements & Responses
Hawley has indicated that most of season 2’s scripts are already completed, promising “bigger world-building” and a “wider scope.” He noted the addition of a co-showrunner and his decision not to direct an episode due to multiple concurrent projects. Hawley also emphasized the series’ focus on corporate politics, describing the upcoming Weyland-Yutani incursion as a source of new “problems” for the protagonists.
