Core Casting Announcement
Diego Calva has been added to the ensemble for Paramount Pictures’ upcoming remake of the 1981 supernatural thriller Possession. He will appear alongside Callum Turner, Margaret Qualley and newly-signed Paul Dano. The film is being directed by Parker Finn, who also authored the screenplay.
Production Team and Companies
Parker Finn will serve as both director and producer, collaborating with Jonathan Fass under the Bad Feeling banner and with Roy Lee and Andrew Childs through their Vertigo banner. Actor-producer Robert Pattinson is also attached as a producer, while Marc Bienstock will act as executive producer. The project is being developed by Paramount Pictures.
Film Background and Calva’s Upcoming Work
The original Possession follows a woman whose request for divorce triggers increasingly disturbing behavior, eventually revealing a sinister supernatural element. The remake aims to reinterpret this premise for a contemporary audience.
Calva’s schedule this year is dense. After the Cannes premieres, he will star in Nicolas Winding Refn’s Her Private Hell opposite Sophie Thatcher and Charles Melton, slated for a July 24 release by Neon. He will also appear in Jordan Firstman’s Club Kid opposite Firstman and Cara Delevigne, a project acquired by A24 after Cannes. Recent credits include the second season of BBC/Amazon’s The Night Manager with Tom Hiddleston, Daniel Minahan’s On Swift Horses with Jacob Elordi, and his breakout role in Damien Chazelle’s Babylon, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination.
Representation and Industry Position
Calva is represented globally by WME, Entertainment 360, Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum Matlof and Fishman, as well as Lumina Management in Mexico. His involvement in Possession adds another high-profile collaboration to a rapidly expanding filmography.
