New Mexico Attorney General Accuses DOJ of Blocking Epstein Ranch Investigation

New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez announced on July 9 that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has not provided unredacted records related to Jeffrey Epstein’s former “Zorro Ranch” estate. Torrez’s request, first made in February, seeks names of survivors, witnesses, co-conspirators and other individuals essential to the state’s criminal probe. He says the DOJ’s failure to respond for more than 130 days is impeding New Mexico’s ability to build a prosecution.

Federal investigators had taken over a separate state-level inquiry in 2019 but reportedly overlooked the ranch. A DOJ spokesperson replied that the agency had responded to the request in June, reiterated its willingness to assist New Mexico, and said it stands ready to investigate and possibly prosecute any federal crimes uncovered.
