Historical Context

In August 2011 Israel’s Supreme Court, acting on a Peace Now petition, ordered the outpost Migron—home to about 300 settlers—to be dismantled by April 2012, the first court-ordered evacuation of an outpost. The order was delayed until the IDF removed the 47 families on 2 September 2012, a precedent cited in today’s calls for prosecutions and Netanyahu’s “juvenile delinquents” comment.
