Palworld 1.0: New Systems, Optimal Stats, and Key Pals for Early-Mid Game Progression

Major Overhaul in Version 1.0

The 1.0 release of *Palworld* by Pocketpair introduced a suite of balance changes that reshape mid- to late-game play. Notable among them are a revamped work suitability scale (now 1-10 instead of 1-4) and the addition of new crafting materials such as Hardwood and Pure Quartz. These updates directly affect how players allocate character stats, select Pals for base operations, and gather essential resources.

Stat Allocation Priorities

According to a recent player guide, the most impactful stat is Carry Weight (S-Tier). “If you start farming well, anything, you will quickly realize that you are running out of carry weight almost immediately,” the author notes, recommending an early focus on doubling this stat. Health (A-Tier) follows, essential for surviving boss encounters, while Stamina (B-Tier) offers modest early benefits. In contrast, Attack is deemed low-return: “Attack has a very poor return on investment.” Work Speed and Defense receive no point investment, the latter being unavailable for allocation.

Work Suitability System and Top Pals

The new suitability system caps natural Pal levels at 7-8, requiring players to boost them via Pal compression or work auras. “Work Suitability now goes up to level 10, but you won’t find any Pals in the wild that naturally have level 10; instead, the highest it goes is level 7 or 8, and you have to find other ways to increase it.” The guide lists the highest-level Pals for each work type, all located in the World Tree region:

  • Kindling – Renjishi (Level 78 Alpha boss)
  • Planting – Dandilord (Level 78 Alpha boss)
  • Electricity Generation – Orserk (standard spawn)
  • Gathering – Jetragon (Level 70 Alpha boss, also the fastest flying Pal)
  • Lumbering – Celesdir Noct (Level 79 Alpha boss)
  • Mining – Aegidron (Level 79 Alpha boss)
  • Medicine Production – Silvance (Level 78 Alpha boss)
  • Transporting – Knocklem (Level 55 Alpha boss, highest natural level 7)

Key Resource Locations

Hardwood

“The two easiest places to find Hardwood are: Twilight Dunes – Chop the trees west of the Anubis boss-fight icon; Dancing Sakura Shrine – Chop the cherry blossom trees found in the hills surrounding the Dancing Sakura Shrine.” Both sites pose environmental hazards for characters around level 40, but they supply the material needed for mid-game schematics such as the Logging Site II.

Pure Quartz

“Pure Quartz is often found in snowy fields and similar places.” The mineral drops from powerful Pals like Jetragon, Astegon, and Frostallion Noct, making direct farming risky. The guide highlights two snowy clusters at coordinates roughly –213, 250 and –257, 391 as optimal mining colonies, provided players equip cold-resistant armor.

Fastest Mounts for Traversal

Speed remains a priority for map navigation. The fastest flying Pal is Jetragon, located in the northwest corner of the Sunreach region (Level 70 Alpha boss). For ground travel, Hartalis offers the highest speed and triple-jump capability but requires summoning as a raid boss in the Feybreak region. The sea-borne Neptilus (Level 60 Alpha boss) leads underwater travel, with Jormuntide as a viable alternative.

Conflicting Reports & Gaps

No source discrepancies were identified regarding stat tiers, work suitability mechanics, or resource locations. However, the guides do not provide quantitative success rates for Pal compression or aura breeding, leaving a gap in precise efficiency metrics.
