Amy Helm Challenges Management Shift at Levon Helm Studios

Amy Helm, singer-songwriter and daughter of the late Levon Helm, says a shareholder outside the Helm family has seized voting control of Levon Helm Studios, the Woodstock-area venue Helm founded and ran until his death in 2012. Following the takeover, Amy was removed from her management role, and six employees—including the general manager and operations manager—have resigned. The studio’s signature “Midnight Rambles” concerts have been postponed while the ownership transition proceeds.

The venue was created by Levon Helm to preserve his musical legacy and host regular fundraising shows. The “Midnight Rambles,” featuring guest artists such as Donald Fagen, have long been a hallmark of the Hudson Valley music scene.

Helm’s widow, Sandra Helm, denies that she was coerced into the leadership change and says she intends to return the studio “to the glory days” while proving she is “serious about restructuring and a new administration.” She has not commented on the shareholder’s identity or the staff resignations.
