Biogen Slows Decline
- Biogen and Ionis said diranersen lowered tau and slowed cognitive decline in a Phase 2 trial.
- In the 18-month CELIA study of 416 early-Alzheimer’s patients, the 60 mg dose cut tau by 50-65% and slowed decline by 26% on the CDR-SB scale.
- The trial missed its primary dose-response goal because the lowest dose showed the greatest benefit.
- Biogen shares fell about 7% and Ionis shares dropped roughly 2.5% after the release.
