Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment announced that the 1939 epic “Gone With the Wind” will be available in 4K Ultra HD both digitally and on 4K UHD Blu-ray beginning Nov. 3, 2026. The release marks the film’s inaugural appearance in a high-resolution format, offering upgraded picture and sound.
Restoration and New Bonus Content
The remaster includes a full restoration of the original color palette, picture quality, and audio fidelity. Three new special features accompany the discs:
- “Gone With the Wind: The Influence That Endures” – film critics and scholars discuss the movie’s lasting impact on cinema and popular culture.
- “Gone With the Wind: Restoring and Preserving an Epic” – a behind-the-scenes look at the technical work involved in the restoration.
- “Scarlett O’Hara: A Woman Ahead of Her Time” – an examination of Vivien Leigh’s performance as the film’s controversial heroine.
Distribution Formats and Editions
Three physical editions will be sold: a standard 4K UHD Blu-ray, a 4K UHD SteelBook, and a collector’s edition sold exclusively through Walmart.com. Pre-orders for the Walmart collector’s edition open July 14, 2026. Digital copies will be offered via Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google TV, Fandango, and other major platforms.

Discovery Home Entertainment described the release as “a newly remastered edition with extraordinary picture and sound,” emphasizing the addition of “new bonus content” that explores both the film’s cultural legacy and the restoration process. WaterTower Music announced that Max Steiner’s original score will be reissued on vinyl in the fall, the first pressing of the soundtrack in more than four decades.
