Sequel “They Follow” Announces Expanded Cast
David Robert Mitchell’s follow-up to his 2015 horror film *It Follows*—titled *They Follow*—has added ten new actors to its roster. The announced cast includes Jackie Earle Haley, Justine Lupe, Anna Mirodin, Jayne Taini, Michael Gandolfini, Tom Pecinka, Melora Walters, Ben Krieger, Natalie Shinnick and Jan Hoag, joining returning lead Maika Monroe. Naomi Ackie, previously reported to be in final talks, is now officially confirmed for a starring role.

*It Follows* follows college student Jay Height (Monroe) who, after a sexual encounter, becomes the target of a relentless supernatural entity that can assume the form of any person. The film premiered at Cannes in 2014, was acquired by Radius-TWC, and grossed roughly $23 million against a budget just above $1 million. It is widely regarded as one of the decade’s top horror titles and elevated both Monroe and Mitchell to greater prominence.
Production Team and Distribution
Mitchell will write and direct *They Follow*, also serving as a producer alongside Jake Weiner (Harvest Hill Entertainment), Chris Bender (Good Fear Content), Erik Rommesmo (Northern Light Media Ventures), Mike D’Alto and Randal Sandler (FirstGen Content), Scott Aharoni and Sinan Eczacibasi (Curious Gremlin), David Kaplan, Rebecca Green and Laura Smith (Kaplan Morrison). Casting is overseen by Mark Bennett. Neon holds worldwide rights and will manage the U.S. theatrical release, while Neon International is responsible for foreign sales. Legal negotiations were handled by Hayden Goldblatt (Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz), Eugene Pikulin (Bruns Brennan Berry Pikulin Jacobs), Michael Weiss (Concentric Law) and Wifreddy Chiang (Baseline Media).
Release Schedule and Upcoming Slate
*They Follow* is slated for a 2026 release, with Neon’s broader slate that year including Na Hong-Jin’s *Hope* (premiering September 9), James Gray’s *Paper Tiger* (premiering November 13) and Arie and Chuko’s *Clarissa* (premiering December 11). The sequel’s plot details remain under wraps, other than its setting a decade after the events of the original film.
