Retail Sales Up
- The U.S. Commerce Department reported retail sales increased 0.2% in June after a 1% gain in May.
- Gas station sales fell 5.3% as gasoline prices dropped to $3.94 per gallon from $4.04 a month earlier.
- Motor vehicle and parts dealers sales rose 1.9% in June, boosted by manufacturer incentives.
- Annual inflation slipped to 3.5% from 4.2% as consumer prices fell 0.4% in June, the biggest monthly drop in four years.
