Canada Luxury Slump
- Canada’s luxury vehicle market share fell to 12.5% in H1 2026, down from a 15.6% peak in 2023.
- DesRosiers Automotive Consultants blamed higher costs, counter-tariffs, zero-emission rules, Tesla sales swings, slow real-estate activity and weak population growth, noting the unchanged $100,000 luxury-tax, introduced in September 2022, threshold makes the tax negative.
- A survey by the Canadian Automobile Dealers Association found 82.6% of dealers say the tax hurts luxury sales.
