Mortal Kombat II Streams Exclusively on HBO Max Starting July 24

New Line Cinema’s sequel MORTAL KOMBAT II will begin its global streaming debut exclusively on HBO Max on Friday, July 24, 2024. The film will also air on HBO’s linear channel the following night, Saturday, July 25, at 8:00 p.m. ET.

The sequel follows the 2021 reboot and earned approximately $129 million worldwide after its May theatrical launch. It continues the story of Earthrealm’s champions, adding new fighters such as Ana Thu Nguyen (Queen Sindel) and Desmond Chiam (King Jerrod). Returning cast members include Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn, Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Josh Lawson as Kano, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han/Sub-Zero, and Tati Gabrielle as Jade. The film is directed by Simon McQuoid, written by Jeremy Slater, and produced by Todd Garner, E. Bennett Walsh, James Wan, Toby Emmerich, and Simon McQuoid. Executive producers include Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Jeremy Slater, Ed Boon, and Lawrence Kasanoff.

An American Sign Language (ASL) version of the movie will stream simultaneously on HBO Max. The interpretation is performed by ASL dubber Justin Perez and directed by Rosa Lee Timm (known for “Sinners with BASL” and “Minecraft with ASL”). It employs Visual Vernacular, a storytelling method that blends ASL, mime, facial expressions, and body movements to convey the film’s highly visual action for Deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences.
