Flavor Flav’s SHE Weekend: A Las Vegas Celebration of U.S. Women Olympians

The concept for SHE (Sports, Hospitality and Entertainment) Weekend began after U.S. Olympic water-polo captain Maggie Steffens sent a letter to manager Rhiannon Rae Ellis in 2024, describing her team’s financial struggles and requesting $5,000 to help her family attend the Paris Games. Ellis relayed the request to Flavor Flav, who responded that he would sponsor the entire women’s hockey team rather than a single athlete. Flav’s motivation was framed by his role as a father of four daughters and his desire to “spoil these women and give them the recognition they deserve.”

Flav described the initiative as a “passion project” aimed at elevating women’s sports. Clark County Commissioner Chairman Michael Naft said the county was “pleased to work with Flavor Flav to bring his vision for the SHE Weekend Parade…to fruition,” emphasizing the event’s role in increasing visibility for women athletes.
